Mr. Godfrey Mahlatsi matriculated at Nkgopoleng Secondary School in 1988. He started his tertiary education at Vista University (Bloemfontein Campus) in 1991 where he acquired his BComm. He was the founder and the first chairperson of the Economic and Management Sciences Society (EMSOC) at Vista University (Bloemfontein Campus) in 1991.
He completed an Advanced Diploma in Project Management and a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management at Cranefield Graduate School of Management. He has also completed his Masters in Business Leadership (MBL) with Advanced Financial Management at UNISA in 2004. He also has a certificate in Infrastructure Planning and Partnerships for Local Economic Development from Harvard University.
He has 21 years working experience in various industries, ranging from the banking; telecommunication; electricity distribution and the public sector. He joined First National Bank in 1992 – 1993 where he was employed as a Senior Savings Clerk. He joined Eskom where he started as an Assistant Management Accounting Manager and finally became the Management Accounting Manager for the North-Western Region. He was subsequently employed at Telkom SA as the Manager for Management Accounting in the Central Region during January 1998 – May 1999. He was later appointed as the Corporate Accounts Manager at the head office in Pretoria.
He is the co-founder of Makomota Financial and Management Services, where he started as the Chief Operations Officer culminating in his elevation to the position of the Chief Executive Officer. He later joined Ernst & Young as a Senior Manager (Management Consulting). In 2008 he was appointed the Chief Financial Officer of Ngwathe Local Municipality where he later became the Municipal Manager. He joined the Department of the Premier in the Free State as the Chief Financial Officer where he obtained clean audits in two consecutive years. He is currently the Chief Financial Officer in the Department of Public Works in Free State and has been seconded as the Head of the Department of Treasury.
